Some iconic moments from the archive
The Roland-Garros Archive is an extensive collection of match footage, programming, interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage dating back to 1983.
1983 – Yannick Noah
Yannick Noah was the first Frenchman in 37 years to win Roland-Garros and became France’s most prominent tennis hero of this time. 40 years later, he presents Novak Djokovic with the trophy in 2023.
2002 – Serena & Venus
In 2002 Serena and Venus Williams played each other four times. At the Roland-Garros final, Serena won the title – and Venus famously took her mother’s camera to photograph her sister holding the trophy.
2021 – Djokovic
Djokovic wins against Nadal in the semi-finals. Due to covid-19, a national curfew of 11pm was in place. This match was so exceptional that the announcer told the crowd that president Macron exceptionally authorized spectators to stay beyond curfew to watch the end of the match.
