Founded as an LPGA event in 1972 by David Foster and Hollywood actress Dinah Shore, The Chevron Championship is a LPGA major that is steeped in both history and tradition.

From Amy Alcott’s famous leap into “Poppies Pond” to Annika Sorenstam’s record setting back-to-back wins in 2001/2002, the event has seen its share of historic and exciting moments in its lifetime. Created as a platform to showcase excellence and grow women’s golf, the event has become a beacon for driving diversity, equity, and inclusion for the women’s game, staying true to its founding principles under Dinah Shore. Today, in its unique position as the first major of the LPGA schedule and in its home in The Woodlands, Texas, the event seeks to harness the passion of its spectators, partners, and players to continue and share in the vision of its founding.
