Established in 1981 with a mission to promote and develop the Korean golf culture, the Shinhan Donghae Open is often heralded as the pioneer event for golf in Korea, and it has grown into a major golf tournament, especially with its large prize purse and even bigger number of spectators.
The Shinhan Donghae Open has set new standards by being the first golfing event within the region to be tri-sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour Association, the Asian Tour, and the KPGA.
