Site Will Host the FIFA World Cup Final in 2018
IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company, announced today that it has teamed up with Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow and Wembley Stadium, London to open an International Center of Excellence in Stadium Management at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
The agreement was announced at Luzhniki Stadium today during British Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit to Moscow and the agreement was witnessed by Lord Green, the British Trade Minister and Pavel Kolobkov, the Russian Deputy Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy.
The Center of Excellence will support Russia’s plans to build up to 13 new stadia for FIFA World Cup 2018. The Center will offer courses in all aspects of the operational design, event management and commercialization of new stadia. Wembley Stadium will provide course content and IMG will be responsible for the management of the Center.
IMG acts as exclusive sales agents to Wembley Stadium and was recently appointed by Luzhniki Stadium to develop a commercial strategy for the redevelopment of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex in Moscow.
The Luzhniki Olympic Complex is one of the largest sports complexes in the world, encompassing 140 sports facilities in a 180 hectare site just fifteen minutes from the center of Moscow.
The Luzhniki Stadium will host the Opening Ceremony, a semi-final and the final of FIFA World Cup 2018.
