17-Year old Begins Stage 3 of LPGA Qualifying School This Week With Sun Life Financial as First Corporate Sponsor

As she prepares for Stage 3 of the 2011 LPGA Qualifying School, outstanding prospect Ginger Howard announced today that she has signed with IMG, the world’s leading sports, fashion and media company, for worldwide management and marketing representation.
The 17-year old Howard, a former IMG Leadbetter Academy student, turned professional earlier this summer and looks forward to successfully completing LPGA Q-School and embarking on her career.

“I am very excited about the opportunity in front of me and don’t have any doubts that this is what I was meant to do,” said Howard, who made the decision to forego college to pursue her dream of playing professionally. “I believe in surrounding myself with the best team to help me play my best, and IMG was a natural fit for me.”

Howard’s father, Robert, was her first golf instructor and will now assist his daughter by serving as her caddie.

After turning pro in June, Howard quickly won five times on the Suncoast Series Ladies Tour, a developmental pro circuit in Florida, before posting a -11 (T-4) at the first stage of LPGA Qualifying School and -16 (1st) at the second stage.

“Ginger is an exciting, young player that is going to play a prominent role in the very promising future of women’s golf,” said Clarke Jones, Co-Managing Director of the Americas, Global Director Golf Clients for IMG Golf. “IMG looks forward to helping Ginger build on her successful start to her professional career and making her an important name and face in the game as golf continues to grow globally.”

Howard, who is sponsored by Sun Life, was selected to the 2010 Junior Ryder Cup Team, which was victorious at the event at Gleneagles Resort in Scotland last September. She was also honored as a 2010 Leadbetter First Team All-American.

"Ginger Howard is such an inspirational young athlete and Sun Life is proud to support her," said Priscilla Brown, Sun Life Financial’s Senior Vice President, Marketing and Strategy.
Ginger Howard will be managed by David Livingston of IMG Golf.
